Sporting Moments that made 2017 memorable

The were many heart touching moments, exceptional performers and historic incidents that made 2017 memorable. This blog is about all these moments. Usain Bolt's retirement from athletics was a big blow for all his fans. After an unbeaten run in the Olympics and the World Championships,2017 was the first time when Usain Bolt lost a race in a big event. The last was 2010 but then he was disqualified but this time he was beaten by Justin Galtin in the 100m final.Bolt also could not finish his last race i.e the 4*100m relay as he pulled his hamstring. This was certainly not the best way to say goodbye to the sport which he had dominated for last 13 years. But the sports world will always remember him as the fastest and the unbeatble Bolt. This picture was heart touching as Justin Galtin bowed down to Bolt after defeating him in 100m. The finals of the 2017 Australian Open was a delight for all tennis fans as the most successfull tennis players were against each other.Federer got...

Indian Cricket in 2017:A flood of records

The year 2017 will go down as the most successfull year ever in the history of Indian cricket. This blog will analyse this year for Indian cricket. India was the most dominating cricket team in the entire 2017 season. It had won all the series this season in all three formats. Also it has equalled Australia's record for the most number of consecutive test series victories i.e 9.This means that India has managed to beat all cricketing nations in last two years except South Africa which managed to beat India the One Day series last year. The only place where India missed out was in the Champions Trophy where Pakistan beat India in the final with a huge margin. This year was an excellent year for many new talents. The old duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja was replaced by the two young bowlers Yujvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. Both the spinners stood out to the expectations of the team.Hardik Pandya has also managed to establish himself as an all rounder. His test perfor...

A Recap of 2017 tennis season

The 2017 tennis season was a very unpredictable and a break to the old monotonus dominance of Novak Djokovic. This blog will analyse this year in tennis. The year will be remembered because of the glory of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.Where Nadal managed to win the French Open and the U.S Open,Federer won the Australian Open and the Wimbledon.Very rightly Nadal and Federer finished number 1 and number 2 respectively. It was only after three years of dominance of Djokovic that we could see the vintage rivalry back. But quiet unfortunately the other top players like Novak Djokovic,Andy Murray and Stanlas Wawrinka were out in major part of the season because of injury concerns. This really affected their rankings,Djokovic finished 12th,Murray 16th and Wawrinka 9th.This was quiet rare to see but when you are injured, one could hardly do anything. This is not all Nadal also got injured at the very end with a knee injury. This means the oldest person on court is also the fittest at this ...

Who will win World Super Series Finals 2017?

The 10th edition of the World Super series final will see the best badminton players in the world compete to win the last tournament of the year. This blog will analyse this tournament. Men's singles will be the most exciting contest as the draws are very interesting.Pool A can be clearly said to be the pool of death as three World number 1's are placed in this group.Lee Chong Wei and Son Wan Ho will battle amoungst themselves to make it to the knockouts. This is a very tricky thing as the stature of Lee Chong Wei and Chen Long will be fighting against the form of Son Wan Ho.Lee Chong Wei is having a tough time since 2016 Rio Olympics,he has not been able to find his dominant form which he used to have before 2016.This poses a question mark on his chances of winning this championship.Though he has won this tournament four times and is the most successful player of this tournament.Same goes with Chen Long,he has reached quiet a few finals this year but managed to win only Ch...

India Vs Sri Lanka:As it happened

India Vs Sri Lanka test series finally ended after the controversial last match. This blog is analysis about this very series. India won its 9th successive series after beating Sri Lanka 1-0.I believe that everything looked good until the third test but the third test posed several questions on India.First of all this series was more like a preparatory series for the tour of South Africa and hence I would like to analyse this series in that context.Firstly I have to say that Sri Lanka batted quiet nicely,to save the final test.Sri Lanka should take this as a victory as India had already whitewashed them in their home soil. Talking about India,I feel that the inability of our spinners was clearly visible. No matter how much hype we create of Ashwin and Jadeja, the fact remains that our spinners can take wickets only on square turning pitches. The Delhi test was a clear indication of this fact. The fast bowling attack looks good with Ishant Sharma leading from the front. But I really th...

India Vs Sri Lanka :The Most Shameful Moment in Indian Cricket

The ongoing third test of India Vs Sri Lanka will pretty much be remembered for its controversy. This blog is about this controversy and my thoughts on this issue. The Sri Lankan players made history when they came out wearing masks for the third test .But why not the pollution level recorded in the national capital was 351, which is much more than the safety standards.I am astonished how BCCI even thought of conducting a test match in such conditions. As a result the Sri Lankan players faced a  lot of problem while bowling and fielding. Time and again players went back and came in.Till this point we had already lost our reputation in the rest of countries. What happened next was extremely painful for me as an Indian. Virat Kohli was infuriated and declared his innings. I won't say declaring the innings was wrong but the way Virat reacted was very shameful.I would like to question him whether this is the way one should treat their guests. Is it the mistake of Sri Lankan players...

Biopics on Sportspersons:Does it help sports?

The current trend in bollywood is to make biopic on sports persons. But does this do any good to the sport. This blog is about this very argument. In last few years there have been as many as seven biopics on sports persons namely Dangal Paan Singh Tomar Bhag Milkha Bhaag Sachin :A Billon Dreams MS Dhoni:The Untold Story Mary Com Azhar These movies give an insight to the life of these sports persons. The movies are quiet motivating and all of them are major hits in terms of collections except Azhar. In fact Dangal is the highest grossing bollywood movie ever. The stars in this movie have done an exceptional job in playing the character. These movies surely have an impact on the society. After Dangal there were many Akhadas which started admitting girls.Wrestling has found a new place in the hearts of people. The message of women empowerment was successfully conveyed to the people. Paan Singh Tomar was also a brave effort in making an unsung hero ...
