Sporting Moments that made 2017 memorable

The were many heart touching moments, exceptional performers and historic incidents that made 2017 memorable. This blog is about all these moments.

Usain Bolt's retirement from athletics was a big blow for all his fans. After an unbeaten run in the Olympics and the World Championships,2017 was the first time when Usain Bolt lost a race in a big event. The last was 2010 but then he was disqualified but this time he was beaten by Justin Galtin in the 100m final.Bolt also could not finish his last race i.e the 4*100m relay as he pulled his hamstring. This was certainly not the best way to say goodbye to the sport which he had dominated for last 13 years. But the sports world will always remember him as the fastest and the unbeatble Bolt. This picture was heart touching as Justin Galtin bowed down to Bolt after defeating him in 100m.

The finals of the 2017 Australian Open was a delight for all tennis fans as the most successfull tennis players were against each other.Federer got better of Nadal in a marathon final, may be just a little short of the 2009 Wimbledon Final. This year was memorable for both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal as they were able to regain thier lost dominance. No one including the two players in their weirdest of thoughts would have ever imagined that these two players will win all the grandslams of the year. This year was more of a statement of thier greatness. They just proved that hardwork, perseverence and patience is the key to success in sports.

The Champions Trophy 2017 was one of the most dramatic matches of the year.India had earlier beaten Pakistan in the same event few days back but Pakistan shattered India in the finals. Many moments from the match will be remembered for years. The dramatic dismissal of Kohli where Mohommad Aamir dismissed Virat after a drop catch in the previous ball. The no ball of Jasprit Bumrah. The most debatable i.e runnout of Hardik Pandya. The match had given many memories to remember. The series of incidents following this match are also worth mentioning.Anil Kumble resigned after his claim that Virat Kohli did not respect his descisions. The match will go down as the most controversial India-Pakistan match.

Real Madrid managed to clinch UEFA Champions League 2017.It was their 12th Champions League title and second in a row.The event would be remembered for the exceptional performance of Cristiano Ronlado who managed to score 12 goals and also managed to be the top scorer of the tournament. It was the first big tournament after Neymar joined Barcelona but Barcelona lost in the Quarter Finals to Juventus.Cristiano Ronaldo was also awarded the best player for his outstanding performance in the tournament.

There are numerous other events which were memorable but these four stood out. With the great ending it leads us to 2018 which will also be a quiet an exciting year. This is the year for Commonwealth Games and many more big events.I hope 2018 is as exciting as 2017 for the sports fans.
