Are Indian Shuttlers on road to break the Chinese Dominance?

Today P.V Sindhu won the World Championships at Scotland. Now the big question is Can the Indian shuttlers break the long dominanace of Chinese players.

The BWF World Championship 2017 saw the best performance by India in the World Championships.India managed to take 1 bronze and 1 silver in women's singles and nearly missing a medal in men's singles. The whole credit goes to three shuttlers P.V Sindhu,Saina Nehwal and K.Srikant.Firstly talking about P.V Sindhu What a tournament she had.On her road to finals she beat    two Chinese players .World Championships have always been extremely good for Sindhu. She has managed to win   bronze medals by consistently reaching semis since 2013 .In an event which used to be dominated by Chinese players like Wang Shixian,Li Xuerui,Wang Yihan ,Sindhu has constantly been able to carve her path out.Next is Saina Nehwal. What a tournament she had.At the time people thought her days are gone, she comes back like a tigress. All eyes were on Sindhu in this event but Saina proved herself and eventually managed to win her first World Championship medal after so many years.I wished if she could have beaten Yokuhara in the semis, which would have meant an all Indian affair which used to be all Chinese affair in the past.Thirdly K.Srikant was again heartbroken in the quarter finals by Son Wan Ho of Korea. This has been a second time in succession ,first being the Olympics, where Srikant lost in the quarter finals of a major event. He has been playing extremely well in the last few months and has managed to win three superseries events. But I believe that this young player has a lot of potential to win a medal in  major events.India's performance in this World Championship has been outstanding but the place where India has failed to make a mark is the doubles events.Performance in doubles events has been extremely poor.In fact in doubles events Indian players have never been good except for the 2010 World Championships where Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa won a bronze. This has always been a major problem for India. This has also affected India's performance in Sudhimiran and The Thomas and Uber Cup.Though a specialised doubles coach has been appointed for this matter but this has not helped till now. Indian Coaches need to find and nurture talented doubles badminton players.
Finally this heroic performance by Indian shuttlers must have inspired many badminton players across the country.Indian players have surely broken Chinese dominance in the the Women's singles event and have shown a great promise in the Men's singles category. The only place where the Indian shuttlers need to improve is the doubles events, which I am sure national coach Pullela Gopichand must be taking very seriously.I believe the day when Indians start dominating this sport is not very far.

Ashes 2017:The clash of the Titans

The most awaited test series of the year,Ashes is back with Australia and England battling one more time. This blog about the team analysis of both the teams and who stands a better chance this time. This year's Ashes series is a very different contest all together. Both the teams have a bunch of new players and debutants. This makes the series even more interesting.Talking about the visitors i.e England, the whole batting line up revolves aroung two players Alaister Cook and Joe Root. The whole team is a lot more dependant on these two players. The top order of England having the likes of  Mark Stoneman,David Malan,James Vince is difficult to predict as these players don't have much experience. But the strength lies in the lower middle order of England where there is Moeen Ali,Jonny Bairstow. Both these players have a decent average of 35+.But it would be intersting to see how Moeen Ali plays in the fast and bouncy pitches of Australia. He got exposed to short balls when England ...

Who is better Sachin or Virat?

The hot Question since past three years is Who is a better player Sachin or Virat?                              Sachin Tendulkar                                                        Virat Kohli Well its not easy to compare two people of two different generations but it still can be done because of the fact that both of them have played with each other for good 3-4 years. Lets compare both of them on different aspects-: 1.       Time periods :  When we compare the periods when these two played then they are extremely different. Sachin made his debut at a time when India was emerging as a cricketing country, when we were not the best in any of the things. Sachin came as a hope as to we could say that we hav...

How has Indian badminton managed to reach great heights?

This phase of badminton is the best phase ever in Indian badminton. This blog is about what badminton has done right to reach this stage. Last two years have been exceptional for the Indian badminton players. From a hint of glory in men's singles to the dominance in women's singles, badminton has grown a lot as a sport.P.V Sindhu,K.Srikant are among the best known faces today in India. From Olympic silver to back to back superseries titles, hints of dominance of Indian badminton can be sensed. But when did the fate of Indian badminton change? Badminton has a great connection with India. It is believed that badminton started in this very country. In the 1980's the world saw a great badminton player Prakash Padukone. One of the very few known sportspersons at that time. The All England champion had set a tone for other coming badminton players at the time when sports(that too badminton) was hardly considered a profession to be taken. After that in 10 years there were a few good ...
