What can CEO's learn from Rahul Dravid?

The U-19 team from India made all of us proud by bringing the U-19 World Cup to India after six years. This blog is about this victory and what businesses can learn from this victory.

Prithvi Shaw and his team has made India proud by winning the U-19 World Cup 4th time. This victory is even more satisfying as we lost in the semi finals of last edition. The main hero of this World Cup has to be Rahul Dravid. He is probably the most selfless cricketer I have ever seen.He has let go tonnes of money, commentary carrier,IPL coaching carrier for coaching team India.Yes this is all he did to coach U-19 team.He had offers from Delhi Daredevils devil to work as coaching staff but he just let it go so that there are no objections on his position of Indian coach. The U-19 team has also worked really hard to achieve this feat. They have been playing many tournaments in last one year. This must had given them a lot of exposure of International cricket. They also lost to Nepal in a match after which they played quiet consistently. This is all because they had a person with them who has been with them all the time. One more advantage that these U-19 cricketers had was that most of them were also playing Ranji cricket which certainly has higher level than U-19.This must had uplifted their game. Now what can startups learn from this entire victory.I would say three main things.
1.Choose a good CEO
This probably is the most critical step.CEO should be a selfless person who does not work keeping money as the prime motive but the one who works out of love for his team.I am sure Rahul Dravid was the driving force in this triumph. He had brought in several reforms in the team. The most important was that a player can play only one U-19 World Cup after which he has to start playing the senior level cricket. This is a very wise decision as the main motive of U-19 cricket is to prepare young players to compete at the highest level.

2.Things might not go your way even if you do everything right
I believe that last edition's U-19 World Cup team was also capable of winning the World Cup.Everything was approached in a similar fashion, the coach was the same, players were equally capable but we know the results did not come our way.Hence patience is an important key.Who better than Rahul Dravid could actually guide the youngsters to be patient.

3.The CEO should always give importance to the team rather than himself
Rahul Dravid has never projected himself as the supreme boss and neither has he allowed is captain to be very much opposite to senior cricket team.It is very important to put forward the team when the company does well and take the responsibility when the company does not do well.I have not seen any big interview of Rahul Dravid after the win.It was just one press conference after the worldcup. This is what great people do without letting other people know.

This U-19 victory will surely make great players in the future.Experts see Prithvi Shaw as the next big cricketer. This tournament is yet another display of Rahul Dravid's coaching abilities and his greatness.I wish he could be the coach of senior Indian cricket team but I am afraid he might face the consequences faced by Anil Kumble. He is an asset to Indian cricket and must be respected for his commitment.

Ashes 2017:The clash of the Titans

The most awaited test series of the year,Ashes is back with Australia and England battling one more time. This blog about the team analysis of both the teams and who stands a better chance this time. This year's Ashes series is a very different contest all together. Both the teams have a bunch of new players and debutants. This makes the series even more interesting.Talking about the visitors i.e England, the whole batting line up revolves aroung two players Alaister Cook and Joe Root. The whole team is a lot more dependant on these two players. The top order of England having the likes of  Mark Stoneman,David Malan,James Vince is difficult to predict as these players don't have much experience. But the strength lies in the lower middle order of England where there is Moeen Ali,Jonny Bairstow. Both these players have a decent average of 35+.But it would be intersting to see how Moeen Ali plays in the fast and bouncy pitches of Australia. He got exposed to short balls when England ...

Who will win the U.S Open 2017?

U.S Open 2017 is all set to see its 137th champion. The withdrawl of many contenders have made this edition much more interesting. This blog discusses the major contenders of this championship this year. The biggest talking point in this year's U.S Open is who will play the finals rather than who will win the U.S Open. This is probably the first time that Nadal and Federer are placed in the same half of the draw in the absence of Djokovic and Murray.Defending champion Stanlas Wawrinka has also pulled out of the U.S Open due to injury. This means the top half is packed with many former U.S Open champions like Del Potro along with Federer and Nadal.Hence the one who advances from the top half is expected to win the championship.Bottom half has some good players like Cilic,Sam Querry,Zverev,Tsonga but Tsonga and Zverev have already been knocked out of tournament. The bottom half is expected to have such upsets because none of these players have been consistent in grand slam events...

ATP World Tour Finals 2017:As it happened

The most dramatic tournament of the year ended up with debutant Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria winning this tournament for the very first time. This blog is the analysis of this tournament. Nobody in this world would have predicted Dimitrov to win the ATP World tour finals this year. But he suprised everyone by defeating David Goffin of Belgium to clinch this title at his very first attempt.I really do not think this have ever happened in the past. The tournament was a roller coaster ride.First of all Nadal had to pull out from this tournament in the league stage itself which gave Pablo Custa a surprise entry to the championship. It was also the first time semi finals was contested with three debutants.Above all Dimitrov winning the championship.Roger Federer who was expected to win the championship in the semi finals after losing to David Goffin inthe semifinals. The way Goffin played against Federer it was predicted that he would eventually win the tournament. But in the finals Dimit...
